About Us
AMURTEL (Ananda Marga Universal Relief Team, Ladies) is an international women’s NGO founded in 1975 in India, initiating projects managed by women for women and children. AMURTEL Greece has been active in Athens since 2015, supporting primarily African and Middle Eastern women from pregnancy until two years after birth.
We believe that all women, even in the context of forced displacement, have the right and the capacity to maintain, restore, and strengthen their health, well-being, dignity, and self-determination. Our role is to support, facilitate, and strengthen the conditions that make this a reality.

As our work continues to evolve, we are moving into a new phase in partnership with AMAMÉ Initiative, a local non-profit women’s organisation founded by two long-time AMURTEL staff members, AMAMÉ builds directly on more than a decade of AMURTEL’s work with refugee and migrant mothers, with a deepened focus on social inclusion, emotional wellbeing, and economic livelihood.
