Our Mothers: Survivors, Fighters, Leaders of Tomorrow

The women who come to AMURTEL are often survivors of war, gender-based violence, unstable economic situations, or trafficking. Many arrive isolated, traumatized and unaware of their rights. Most come from countries with the fewest opportunities for females to advance personally and socially. AMURTEL offers them dignity, knowledge, and connection, supporting them to overcome strongly ingrained cultural barriers to developing their potential.

Of 177 countries included in the 2023 Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security index of gender equity, many of our women come from the lower third of nations globally.
